Los Carmelitas son una orden religiosa nacida en el siglo XII en el Monte Carmelo (Tierra Santa), que desarrollaron una fuerte veneración a la Virgen María, bajo el título de "Nuestra Señora del Monte Carmelo," como modelo de oración, pureza y obediencia. La Virgen María se apareció a San Simón Stock, Prior General de los Carmelitas, el 16 de julio de 1251, en Aylesford, Inglaterra. En esta aparición, la Virgen entregó el escapulario, diciendo: “Recibe, hijo amado, este escapulario. Será para ti y para todos los carmelitas un privilegio: quien muera con él no padecerá el fuego eterno.” Desde entonces el escapulario es un símbolo de protección y de promesa para quien lo porta con fe.

Bonito pero frágil

Los compré con la idea de que fueran más resistentes que los de tela. Las medallas tienen acabados muy bonitos, pero la cadena es MUY delgada y se ve frágil. Además, uno de los dos escapularios que pedí llegó maltratado en una de las medallas.
